Tess 24

Introduction

Bikes are becoming more and more popular around the world. You can ride them to work, commute through the city, and even go to other countries if you feel adventurous. They are good for your wallet, and they are even better for your health. But, riding a mountain bike is a different story.

These bikes are mainly designed for off-road cycling due to their enhanced durability. You can ride them on unpaved surfaces, such as mountain trails or dirt roads. Whereas regular bikes are for commuting and enjoying nature mountain bikes are made for the adrenaline rush.

While all mountain bikes are designed for off-road cycling, they still differ in what they have to offer. We will cover three of them and we will try to offer you the best choice for your cycling needs. These bikes are suitable for people on a budget, and all of them are currently available for less than $200.

Merax wanted to create a bike that could sustain regular heavy use, while simultaneously providing an excellent level of comfort for its rider. They also wanted to make sure that newcomers had a bike that is a great entry ticket into the world of mountain biking. Falcon is just that kind of bike.

As the frame is one of the most important features of any mountain bike, let’s first take a look at that. Falcon’s 17-inch frame is made from heat-treated aluminum alloy. Using this, Merax wanted to make sure that the Falcon will manage to withstand a punch. Next, we have suspension. The Falcon has a full suspension which provides the rider with good control of the bike and makes it more comfortable when dealing with very rough terrain. The Falcon features 26-inch tires.

When it comes to speed, Falcon has also covered that nicely. This bike comes with very good Shimano 21-speed derailleur and Shimano shifters which provide reliable and easy shifting. Speed is important, but so is breaking. Luckily, the Falcon has excellent linear-pull brakes that deliver good stopping power.

Bear in mind that the Falcon is delivered 85% assembled, so you will have to install brakes, pedals, front wheel, and the handlebar. Also, you will have to inflate the tires yourself. Finally, it is important to mention that the Falcon can support up to 330 lbs of weight. Overall, this bike is an excellent entry-level bike, and newcomers will find it easy to use and a joy to ride.

Orkan has made this hybrid bike which can be used both, off-road and in urban areas. Nevertheless, it’s most suitable for driving to work or through simpler off-road terrains like camping ground or dirt roads. The Orkan is not as good as Falcon for going down challenging mountain trails. Still, comfort is assured with this snappy looking bike.

Orkan’s 16.5-inch frame is made from steel, and it is lightweight. Unlike the Falcon, it only has front suspension. While this takes away a little riding comfort, it makes up for it with lighter bike weight. Orkan decided to go with 27.5-inch tires for this bike. This has provided a smoother and faster ride than that on a Falcon. It also makes the Orkan more stable and provides a better grip on the road.

As for speed, Orkan also decided to use Shimano 21-speed derailleur and Microshift shifters. Instead of linear-pull brakes, Orkan have used mechanical disc brakes. These brakes are more durable than linear-pull brakes, and they can handle mud and dirt better.

Orkan has made an adjustable seat which can be fitted for people whose height is between 5’1″ and 5’9″. Weight capacity for this bike is 250 lbs, and the recommended rider’s maximum weight should be 200 lbs. In our opinion, this bike is more versatile than the Falcon. While Falcon is the “king of the mountain”, the Orkan can hold its own off-road and can get you around town quickly. The Orkan is also lighter than the Falcon, and this can make a significant difference when you often have to carry your bike around.

Diamondback’s Tess model is a kids’ mountain bike. They wanted to make a bike that could make mountain biking easy for children, especially girls. They also wanted to make a bike which girls could ride on both, paved and dirt roads. We are glad to say that with the Tess they have managed to do an amazing job.

Tess’ 13-inch frame is made from durable high-tensile steel, and it is very lightweight. Diamondback wanted to make sure that the Tess will be a lightweight bike, which is also capable to withstand heavy usage. For us, it is an amazing feat that a children’s bike can take on rough terrains just like an adult bike. The Tess has only front suspension, but this hasn’t made any dent in its riding comfort. The Tess features 24-inch tires, suitable for children aged eight to twelve.

The Tess and Falcon are similar in two things. Firstly, the Tess also uses Shimano’s 21-speed derailleur and Shimano’s shifters. This means that changing gears is a piece of cake, and they work like clockwork. Secondly, they both use linear-pull brakes. When a child hits a break, the Tess will stop at a moment’s notice.

The Tess is a great bike for girls. Weighing only 28.05 lbs, your girl will be able to carry it around with ease. She can ride around the town, go to school or experience amazing off-road adventures. Forest tracks, camping grounds or dirt and muddy roads, the Tess will be able to handle all of them without a problem.

Conclusion

All these mountain bikes have one thing in common – they are fun to ride! Whether you want to drive down the rocky mountain terrains, muddy and dirty roads or you prefer a bike that will enable you to easily switch between urban area and nature, you can find a bike to meet your needs.

But, the bike that left the best impression on us is definitely the Tess. Diamondback has managed to make an amazing mountain bike for children. Not only that, we are especially glad that they made a bike for girls. Lightweight, very durable and easy to use, the Tess will be an excellent gift for every girl that wants to ride her bike wherever she wants.
